Enantiornithes

Enantiornithes is a diverse order of avalians endemic to Sheyden. The order is closely related to Continental birds ([class] aves), but represents an idenpendent and more archaic evolutionary branch. The enantiornithes order is endemic to Sheyden, and is the dominant flying taxa on the island.

The name opposite bird stems from the articulation of the shoulder bones that is the reverse of that of Continental birds. Similar to fishbirds ( [order] ichthyornithes) and deerbirds ([order] dichornithes ), opposite birds have claws on two fingers and highly mobile shoulder joints. Moreover opposite birds differentiate themselves from Continental birds by having very short tails feathers, and toothed jaws rather than a beak.
